Douglas County Bees strives for education both for beekeepers and the general public. In addition to our monthly meetings, we also offer free removals county-wide. This really is a group effort by a small bunch in the group and it takes up a lot of time during the spring and summer months to plan and be prepared for the unexpected. No two are ever alike and this adds to the fun and excitement of each removal.
We have anywhere from eight to ten community events where we have a booth and an observation hive. This too, takes a group effort in getting our name out there to let businesses and individuals know how to help bees and other pollinators.
Our meeting attendance ranges from twenty to forty people. Our group membership is eighty to one hundred people, but it reaches out to so many more in the community. we hope to grow the number of interested members in all our events and removals because we wouldn’t be able to do it without them.
