With roof opened:

Please be aware that this item is “build to order”.  I do not keep this item in stock.  Allow approximately two weeks (depending upon the weather, the season, and how many requests are ahead of YOUR order when you place your request)

• Easy care for the urban, rural and anyone’s backyard beekeeping ventures
• Made with Western Red Cedar
• Sturdy/reinforced supporting legs
• Hinged roof for easy opening (no lifting the top completely off)
• Pitched roof to direct the rain off the hive and provide above the bars ventilation
• Guide wires on the hinged top to keep the top from tipping over
• 32 pre-grooved , 3 sided hexagonal top bars (11 full frames, 21 open bars)
• 1 solid follower board
• Platform attached to followr board with cut out to hold Boardman style feeder
• Handles on the top bars for easier removal
• “Landing” strip on the outside at the entrance with extened “walk-in” into the interior
• Observations without disturbing the bees:
  • Hexagonal plexiglass window at both ends for viewing into the hive while roof is open
  • Rectangle plexiglass window at one side with hinged and latchable cover door and knob
• Screened bottom for ventilation
• Slide-in bottom board for winter weather

We recommend:

• Water seal the top of the roof with linseed oil.
• Use bees wax that comes from local beekeepers (not the bees wax that is sold in craft stores) to “glue” the foundation strips into the top bar grooves.
• Spray the interior of the the bee hive with a mixture of 15 ounces distilled water and 1 (ONE) drop of pure lemongrass essential oil (not a perfume essential oil).  [mist the interior….do not soak it in the lemongrass water]
