- Great for beginner and professional beekeepers
- Easy care for the urban, rural and anyone’s backyard beekeeping ventures
- Made entirely with Western Red Cedar
- Sturdy/reinforced supporting legs
- Hinged top for easy opening (no lifting the top completely off)
- Guide wires on the hinged top to keep the top from tipping over
- 32 pre-grooved top bars
- 1 follower board w/Boardman feeder slot for in the hive feeding
- Handles on the top bars for easier removal
- Platform attached to the follower board for in the hive Boardman feeder jar to sit on
- “Landing” strip on the outside at the entrance with extened “walk-in” into the interior
- Screened bottom for ventilation
- Slide-in/out bottom board for winter weather
- Pitched roof to direct the rain off the hive and provide above the bars ventilation
We recommend:
- Water seal the top of the roof with linseed oil.
- Use bees wax that comes from local beekeepers (not the bees wax that is sold in craft stores) to “glue” the foundation strips into the top bar grooves.
- Spray the interior of the new bee hive with a mixture of 15 ounces distilled water and 1 (ONE) drop of pure lemongrass essential oil (not a perfume essential oil). [mist the interior….do not soak it in the lemongrass water]
**** Allow the prep-time to have your honey bee hive ready… April/May is when bees go shopping for homes!****

What People Say about the Bodacious Bee Box:
3/31/18 ~ Quality, Customer Service. Outstanding quality. Great craftsmanship. Speaking as a carpenter, could not have done the same job for less money. very happy with the end result. Plus, nice folks. -Richard G. Ashland, OR
6/14/18 ~ Those of you who know me realize I am disabled. Some of you may have wondered how a disabled woman is going to become a beekeeper? Most hive styles require very heavy lifting. Top bar hives do not. Each frame can weigh around five pounds when full of honey which is my weight restriction. I will transfer my frames into a food grade bucket and use a dolly to move the bucket. My motto this year is “Adapt and overcome”. Top bar hives are my answer. I bought ten of them from a local guy named Robert Baune of Bodacious Creations. His hives are beautiful have an easy open lid which many top bar hives do not. There isn’t always an adaptation to every obstacle I face but I am determined to find it if it exists. – Shelah W.
